Mr. Palermo- You have a wonderful family and I am so glad that I was allowed to be a part of it. From business talks to playing board games, you've (mixed with my own experiences with my dad) shown so much about what it looks like to be a good father. One of the first things that caught my attention was that first car ride I shared with you and Mo to pick up pizza. It was so eye-opening to me the way you spoke to her- you showed a very understated appreciation for her thoughts and emotions that it stuck with me- and I think someday Mo will come to appreciate that too. You genuinely enjoy your family's company and have such fun... You also taught me that to win at scategories, it is imperative that I throw on some reading glasses and question everybody else's answers! Thank you for being somebody that I could look up to, and for opening your home up to me. I will never forget how accommodating you were and all the generosity. One day when it is my turn, I will be quick to pay it forward.
Mrs. Palermo- It was awesome being able to get little glimpses into how you see things and the determination you have to get things done. Across a few different conversations it was heartwarming to hear the way Peyton and Morgan look up to you. You are a super-human in their eyes, whether they let you know that or not (I'm sure they do) and I hope that someday when I have a family of my own, that my children will feel the same. I think I probably talked to you more than anybody else in the household because of the hectic/late schedules, but I enjoyed each conversation. Thank you for being yet another stellar parent and individual for me to look up to. You never complain or anything, you just "do". Do what needs to be done, to get you where you want to go. It's awesome... Oh and there is no doubt, you are a wonderful cook! Pot roast is kinda overrated anyway! I hope that with all that's going on at your office, that a path makes itself clear to you and it leads to more joy.
Peyton- I'd like to think we are good friends after this summer. At first I wasn't sure how the age gap would work between us two but I'm glad that after a week or two we had that first chat. I definitely am not perfect, but I enjoyed all of our random talks and hope that some of my advice from past experiences will benefit you. I am excited for you to go to college and basically just live life. Your story, and the fact that if somebody hadn't told me that I would never know you had a brain tumor, is such an inspiration to me. As you said in your video, you had a choice to make and you chose the harder one. I hope you never lose sight of that and how much your family loves you when times get tough- because they will. Oh, and I have your back too. As far as I'm concerned, your parents are like another set of aunt and uncle that I've been blessed with, and you are the oldest of my little sisters. If you ever have a questions about anything, or even need advice on what a guy "really means", I'm only a text or a phone call away.
Morgan- last but definitely not least, my lil homie. Mo, you actually are a stud (but you got to let other people tell you that, you can't say it about yourself ya goob) and I'm sad that I never got to witness your goalie skill! But I guess someday when you're playing for the world cup I'll just make up for it then. Thank you for hanging out with me all those afternoons and laughing at my terrible jokes. It takes some real compassion to do all that! You hold true to that warm, goofy, sassy personality and I promise high school will not be half as scary as people would like it to seem. You have a good head on your shoulders and the right people will gravitate toward that. Be good to your body (don't be like me and try to play on too many injuries), tell your sister you miss her even if she doesn't reply all too well, and keep spreading the word about the rat poop. It is 100% true when people say that high school will fly bye, so make every moment count.
