Silver Lining (Work In Progress)

Lately I've been noticing some changes in my life
And I'm still trying to figure out if it's all for the better
Letter after letter being exchanged with far away friends and tapping away at green send
Buttons bent on catching up
Fessing up to them about things that are much more honestly simple facts but are treated
Like confessions
At times I feel like we might as well complete the scene with a nice curtain and wooden barrier
Separating two sides of a wooden box
They can put on their priestly robes and I once again might pull up my sackcloth
Moths eating holes into them
Exposing more and more of my humanity
As if that is what the world has feared all along
As my mouth bleeds out recent history
Lips rotten, gangrenous
And tongue cracking
But again and again I fight
With all that I have in me
To speak water
And breathe life

I will hang
By finger, tooth or nail
Tightly to my silver lining
And joy will find me
