No matter what in this life you monetarily amount to
Do not hold on to it
Granted I do not doubt you mean it well
Do not hold on to it
Granted I do not doubt you mean it well
But Heaven and Hell
With Earth in between will go on just fine with or without you
Proof only of the potential futility of life
And the calamity of strife
This is no secret
Pain and the burning in your chest accumulating and dissipating with
The changing of the seasons
As warm hearths in homes and plush forests can alike turn to ash
Facilitating copious amounts of coping systems
Reasons reactions and explanations performing practiced incantations
Hushing and hindering pistons that would otherwise fire in your chest
And leave you to...
Maybe...
Maybe...
Feel something
As if feeling something has ever been the problem
But man don't we sometimes like to see it that way
Like being callous equates to being whole
And selfish apathy is the finish line on the way to Enlightenment
As if feeling something has ever been the problem
But man don't we sometimes like to see it that way
Like being callous equates to being whole
And selfish apathy is the finish line on the way to Enlightenment
But the thing is
Feeling is inevitable
Growth is not
And we are meant to grow in this life
And we are meant to grow in this life
For every time your hearts fire will be stamped out
And walked on my friends
Sins of our youth always all but forgotten and thrown in our faces
Places lost in our pages
Which for that matter people never seem to read...
When things begin to crumble
You will stumble
Like a child
The days will feel shorter and nights feel inescapable like the emptiness of plump
Pillow that lies beside you in your bed
But know that despite what textbooks or "happy" people may tell you

But know that despite what textbooks or "happy" people may tell you
Truth and life is found in understanding that the heart is the strongest muscle
And not the weakest link
So throw on some shoes you don't mind leaving behind
Pick up that dinky first-aid kit your parents bought you from Costco
Grab a rain-jacket for the heavier days
And go wherever your heart takes you
And grow
Grow until your toes burst out the front of your ratty sneakers
And bra straps dig into your back and traps
And jeans restrict you from doing anything but standing still
But never catch yourself "standing still" in this life
Because believe me when I say you will never run out of room for growth
Grow until you're a you that your love would introduce to friends
Or bring home to Mama
Grow until you're a you that doesn't wince at your reflection anymore
Grow until you're a you that you can love and forgive
And let others love you too
