This was written in the procession of my school's annual showcase for a fellow senior friend. Relevant because as tradition goes, before the last show ( of 3 ), all of the senior girls have "senior circle", where for the last time they meet together and reflect on past experiences together etc. Even clear the air between people. And during this time they also read letters that they wrote to each other. Maddie passed me in the auditorium before this took place, and I decided I'd write her one... just because.
"Hey Maddie,
I'm going to skip needless intros and jump right into thanking you. For everything. I don't know why you put up with my BS and that of other people's, cause you definitely don't deserve that, but none the less you do it and I can't help but feel indebted for that. I know given the situation emotions are high and things are bittersweet, but soak it all in and enjoy them. Because you get a special opportunity here that most things in life will not offer you. It's not often that we get to forsee the exact date of the end before it comes, and what it all means. But here tonight, you do, and you get to choose how it all transpires. How you will remember it all and the kind of emotions the memories will bring back. Because here and now, you are in control. Take advantage of that and make this day one that you will remember as something lovely and sweet and fun and find closure. Don't let tonight be full of bittersweet goodbyes. If you're going to cry, cry tears of joy. If you're going to say 'goodbye', instead, say 'see you later'. And look forward to the day you see your much loved friends again."
